Frequently asked questions

How can I tell if a message is a scam?

Look for urgency or threats, a request for an OTP, PIN or CVV, a link to an unfamiliar site, a demand to pay before you receive something, or an offer that is too good to be true. Genuine messages inform you and send you to your own app or the number on your card.

Will a bank ever ask for my OTP or PIN?

No. A bank, tax office or courier will never ask you to share an OTP, PIN or CVV. If someone asks, it is a scam, even if they know your name or account details.

Do I enter a PIN to receive money?

No. You only enter a PIN to send money. A request that asks for your PIN to receive a payment is a trick to take money out of your account.

Are the messages in the game real?

They are realistic examples written for the game, based on common scam patterns. The names, links and numbers are made up.

Is this financial advice?

No. It is a learning game about spotting common scam patterns. If you think you have been scammed, contact your bank straight away using the number printed on your card.
