Frequently asked questions
What is lifestyle inflation?
Lifestyle inflation, or lifestyle creep, is when spending rises as income rises, so a raise improves comfort without improving savings. It usually happens through many small upgrades rather than one big decision.
Should I invest part of every raise?
A common approach is to direct a fixed share of each raise, often around half, to savings or investing and let the rest improve daily life. The right split depends on your goals, debts and safety net.
Why does the game include a lifestyle goal?
Because saving everything isn't the aim. A plan you can live with is one you'll stick to, so the game rewards balance rather than extreme frugality.
Is this game financial advice?
No. It is an illustrative learning game with simplified assumptions, including a fixed 10% yearly growth rate.
