🇮🇳 India · Illustrative scenario

Three debts, one payoff order, 3.2 years to zero

A software engineer, 29Bengaluru, India

This is an illustrative scenario, not a real customer or testimonial. It's a composite built to show how the tools apply to a realistic situation in India — the persona and exact figures aren't a specific real person's data.

The situation

₹9L credit card balance at 38% APR, a ₹6L personal loan at 14%, and a ₹3L car loan at 9.5% — ₹18L total, with minimum payments alone eating 34% of take-home pay. Debt was being paid down in whichever order felt most urgent, month to month, with no overall plan.

The approach

Ran all three debts through Get Rid of My Loan. The avalanche order (credit card first, by rate, regardless of balance) came out ₹4.1L cheaper in total interest than the snowball order over the same horizon — a big enough gap here to be worth the discipline of tackling the largest, highest-rate balance first rather than the psychologically easier small one.

The outcome

Redirected the same total monthly payment into the avalanche order instead of ad hoc payments. Projected debt-free in 3.2 years instead of an open-ended "whenever," with the interest saved roughly equal to five months of take-home pay.
