Gold Calculator
Physical or digital gold investment projection.
Gold has historically been used as a store of value and an inflation hedge — an asset whose price tends to hold up (and sometimes rise) when currencies weaken or equity markets fall, though it also carries real price risk in the shorter term.
A gold calculator projects what a regular or one-time gold investment (physical, digital, or a gold ETF/fund) could be worth after a chosen number of years, at an assumed annual price appreciation rate — the same simple compounding math used for any regular investment.
Each monthly purchase is reduced upfront by GST/making-charge costs, then the net amount compounds at the appreciation rate. Because the cost drag hits before any growth happens, higher-cost buying channels (jewellery) meaningfully underperform lower-cost ones (digital gold, ETFs) even at an identical appreciation rate.
Physical gold held over 2 years qualifies for LTCG (12.5%, no indexation, post-July-2024 rules); under 2 years it's taxed at your slab. Gold ETFs/mutual funds typically follow debt-fund-like slab taxation regardless of holding period — verify which instrument you're actually comparing.
Which "gold" does this model — physical, digital, or an ETF?
The projection is generic to gold's price appreciation and doesn't distinguish making charges (physical), storage fees (digital), or expense ratio (ETF/fund) — factor your specific format's costs in separately.
How reliable is the default return assumption?
It's based on long-run historical gold price trends, not a forecast — gold can be flat or fall for extended periods, and past performance doesn't determine future returns.
